Menpora Prepares National Sports Solutions Amid the Covid-19 Pandemic
FIO.Unesa.ac.id, Surabaya - The Covid-19 Pandemic that has hit Indonesia in the last few months has disturbed aspects of life a little. An economy that used to run smoothly must be willing to run slowly to break the chain of spreading the virus. Not only the economy, the sports championship activities must also be delayed. One of the sporting activities that will be held in the near future is the 2020 National Sports Week (PON) which will actually be held in Papua.
Therefore, the Faculty of Sports Science, State University of Surabaya held a Sports Webinar, on (5/6) with the theme "PON and Sports Achievements in the Era of the Covid-19 Pandemic ". This theme is determined to find a solution and how to overcome the increasing achievement of the world of sports during this pandemic. This webinar presented the Indonesian Minister of Youth and Sports, Dr. H. Zainudin Amali, S.E, M.Si, Deputy Head of Central KONI Major General TNI (Purn) DR. Suwarno, S.Ip, M.Sc, General Chair of the East Java KONI Ir. H. Erlangga Satriagung, and East Java Kadispora Drs. Supratomo, M.Sc.
Seeing the very interesting theme, the enthusiasm of the participants in participating in this activity was very high. Not only athletes and the general public, participants were also dominated by the Association of Sports Professors, Dean of FIO, FIK, FKK throughout Indonesia, city / regency and provincial Koni.
In his remarks Rector of UNESA, Prof. Dr. Nurhasan, M.Kes said that this webinar activity is a form of Unesa's concern for national sports achievements, one of which is the implementation of PON. In addition, this webinar is also a place for experts and field experts to think about sports policies that are suitable in the midst of the Covid-19 pandemic.
"We hope that applicable ideas and ideas emerge to maintain the quality of national sports achievements as well as make the implementation of PON 2021 in Papua a success later. "Said the Rector.
Dean of FIO, Dr. Setiyo Hartoto, M.Kes, said that the implementation of this webinar was aimed at finding solutions in the implementation of national sports activities in the era of the Covid-19 pandemic.
Deputy Head of Central KONI, Major General TNI (Purn) DR. Suwarno, S.Ip, M.Sc, conveyed several important points. First, the implementation of PON in Papua which will be held on 2-13 October 2021 aims to build a wider brotherhood and is based on the element of equality. Previously, PON activities had been carried out starting from Java, Sumatra, Kalimantan and Sulawesi, "he explained.
The second thing that was conveyed by Suwarno was related to the Covid-19 pandemic. For certain sports, both individually and in teams, they are allowed to carry out the National Training Program by strictly quarantining and complying with the provisions of the health protocol against Covid-19.

In his presentation, the Indonesian Minister of Youth and Sports, Dr. H Zainudin Amali, S.E., explained that the government is working on a sports protocol that will be applied to the new normal order. Technological sophistication has now become a consumption that must be done by many people, of course also athletes.
"The existence of this pandemic certainly has positive and negative sides. On the positive side, people can learn about the sophistication of information technology in the midst of a pandemic. This is one of the protocols that will be implemented in the field of sports, "said the Menpora.
The government is now drafting a sports protocol concept with virtual-based independent training centers and isolated exercises with strict restrictions. Meanwhile, with regard to PON, which is the pinnacle of national sports, the Menpora hopes that athletes will remain productive in the midst of the pandemic and show their achievements.
